The year 2025 brings interesting changes to the area of work benefits. Benefits are no longer just about traditional perks like meal or transportation allowances, but they are actually a key tool for motivating employees and building a corporate culture.
Companies are realizing that employee satisfaction impacts their productivity, loyalty, and overall company success. It’s clear that the benefits trend in 2025 will shift toward greater flexibility, personalization, and innovation.
Flexibility is the key to satisfaction
Nowadays, employees increasingly expect flexibility from their employers. This trend is particularly pronounced in the context of working hours, the possibility of working from home, but also in the benefits that they can choose according to their current needs.
These benefits take into account different life stages, meaning employees will be able to choose the benefits that best suit their current situation, whether it's childcare, healthcare, sports, recreation, or even benefits related to environmental behavior.
Innovative and unconventional benefits abroad
For several years, international companies have been implementing very innovative and unconventional benefits that are not yet common in Slovak companies, but their popularity is growing. For example, in large technology companies, benefits such as nap rooms are appearing so that employees have the opportunity to regenerate and recharge their batteries during the day.
Many companies are also investing in wellness and fitness programs, providing massages at work, and even offering employees time off for meditation and mental well-being. Because every employee is different and everyone needs different benefits to be able to work fully.
Personal development as a benefit
Food and beverage brands often offer their employees unlimited consumption of their own products, which is very attractive to employees and also allows companies to maintain good relationships with their teams. Interestingly, some companies allow their employees to create their own benefits, choosing from a variety of options based on current needs.
Benefits that support personal development and education are also very popular. Companies offer their employees access to online courses, training, or even fully reimburse college tuition. This benefit increases employees' professional skills and at the same time leads to greater engagement and loyalty to the company.
Ecological benefits
It is also interesting how some foreign companies focus on environmental responsibility and offer benefits that are linked to sustainability. For example, employees who use public transportation or eco-friendly vehicles may receive contributions to purchase eco-friendly products.
Companies also provide contributions for the purchase of e-bikes, etc. This trend has been evident for several years in countries like Sweden or Denmark, where ecological and sustainable approaches in work benefits are very popular.
Slovak companies are inspired by abroad
Slovak employers are also inspired in this direction, trying to offer benefits that support a balance between work and personal life.
"Flexibility and adapting benefits to the current needs of employees will be very important in 2025," Lívia Bachratá, director of Public Affairs at Edenred, is convinced. "Employees today are looking for benefits that they can use according to their preferences, whether it's meal allowances, recreation, or gifts and services."
Traditional benefits lead, but flexibility is on the rise
The same approach is reflected in the results of the latest Food Barometer survey, according to which Slovak employees still prefer traditional benefits such as meal vouchers (35,8 percent), but they also increasingly value flexibility in the form of paid leave beyond the law (15,4 percent), flexible working hours (15 percent) and the possibility of working from home (15,6 percent). The survey clearly confirms that employees are looking for benefits that allow them to better adjust their working hours and use their free time for relaxation or family life.
Edenred offers employers this type of benefit in the form of a card that includes three different wallets for dining, recreation, and gifts and services. This model is proving to be very effective because employees can use the benefits at their own discretion.
Flexibility, personalization, and innovation are the trends that will impact employee satisfaction and engagement this year. Employers who adapt to these new challenges will be able to attract and retain the best people.
