The majority of Slovaks (52,2 percent) of Slovaks plan to spend this year's summer vacation in Slovakia. The most preferred type of accommodation is a hotel (49 percent) and half-board for meals (27 percent). This follows from a survey by Edenred among 1 regular employees of companies and institutions, which was conducted from June 666 to 3, 14.
While more than half of the respondents stay in Slovakia in the summer, 37 percent of the survey participants chose a vacation by the sea. Another six percent will spend it abroad on a sightseeing tour, and only five percent said they will not have a summer vacation this year.
"Employees who choose a vacation in Slovakia can partially finance it in the form of a recreation voucher, which of course brings relief to the family budget. This may also be the reason why most employees will prefer a domestic holiday to a foreign one this year." believes LÃvia Bachratá, Director of Public Affairs at Edenred.
The second most preferred form of accommodation after a hotel is an apartment (38 percent). This is followed by camping (7 percent) and shared accommodation (6 percent). The survey also showed that even if this year's vacation will be cheaper than last year's for 30 percent of respondents, most will pay extra for it. Most often by 10 percent (a quarter of the respondents). Eleven percent of respondents say the budget will increase by a fifth, and others by a third to a half. Nevertheless, the largest group of respondents (43 percent) can fit in with a total budget of up to 500 euros. A third (31 percent) of survey participants spend up to a thousand euros on vacation, another 16 percent up to 2000 euros, and the remaining nine percent over 2000 euros.
"The increased costs of vacations are again reflected in the increased prices of food and accommodation. Employees realize that rest is important for them, but at the same time they choose such forms and such a standard that their income is sufficient for it and they do not burden the family budget too much. Unlike Christmas presents, Slovaks don't tend to take out loans for holidays," stated L. Bachratá.
From the point of view of the form of catering, the mentioned most popular half board is followed by all inclusive (23 percent). Another 18 percent of the respondents only provide breakfast at the place of accommodation, while lunches and dinners are handled in local restaurants. A similarly large group (17 percent) does not secure food in advance at all. Eight percent of respondents take their own food supplies from home. For up to 59 percent of respondents, food on vacation is so important that it is one of the main criteria when choosing a vacation, or affects their overall impression. They most often spend up to 20 euros (41 percent) on food, or up to 30 euros (29 percent) per person per day. "Just like last year, this year too our survey confirmed that diet is important for Slovaks. For us, wholesome food is not only associated with health, but also with rest, well-being and relaxation." concludes survey results L. Bachratá, Director of Public Affairs at Edenred.
